PhD Courses

As you will be aware, the Ministerial Order on the PhD degree states that the PhD education should include satisfactory completion of PhD courses approved by the institution corresponding to at least 30 ECTS.

Here you will find links to danish and foreign doctoral schools offering PhD courses. It is important to note that course work must be approved by the institution granting you your PhD degree, i.e. the Doctoral School of Engineering, Science, and Medicine at Aalborg University.

Often, conference participation can be considered equivalent to course activities, but no more than 6 ECTS in total can be obtained from conferences. Moreover, PhD students are encouraged to form study-groups if a required theoretical area is not taught in courses locally or abroad. This only requires a local guarantor, i.e. at least an assoc. professor ensuring the outcome of the study-group is on PhD level. To see more on these aspects, please visit the website of the Doctoral School of Engineering, Science, and Medicine at Aalborg University.
